Laurel Sim is a highly accomplished PM, Senior Executive, Consultant, Board Member, and Thought Leader with more than 20 years of success in the IT, banking, oil & gas, utility, telecom, government, construction, health, defense, education and transportation industries. Her broad areas of expertise include business improvement, implementing capital dollars, advisory services, program management, IT strategy, and quality assurance.
In her current role as Vice President of Portfolio Management at Taleo, she has focused on building the company’s client base and profitability. In 2013, Taleo was awarded the “Canadian Top Profit Business” as well the 2015 “Top 50 Fastest Growing Alberta Business” Award and has secured strong client relationships including several Fortune 500 companies. Laurel is passionate about delivery management and seeks to ensure that Taleo delivers quality solutions for clients by balancing project risks and consistently delivering the best business value.
Previously, as Northwestern North America Mentor at PMI, she supported 16 chapters through coaching and strategic initiatives. During her prior tenure as Project Management Advisory Committee Member at Mount Royal University, she started three new programs; provided direction, and recommendations on project management in the industry. In addition, Laurel received the 2015 “Project Leader of the Year from the Project Management Institute (PMI).

In this virtual edition, Laurel will interactively guide on how to build the best portfolio roadmap, with emphasis on how a portfolio can be structured to have effective oversight on programs while allowing for flexible project delivery oversight. This interactive presentation will use a case study to build a portfolio roadmap. In this hands-on session, you will learn how to understand portfolio structure to design strategic programs with tactical projects and take away redy-to-apply techniques in building this roadmap
