Project Leadership with Christopher Diem, PMP (2 days)
This 12 PDU / 2-day course series is based on the fundamental leadership philosophy of Dr. John C. Maxwell, rated the #1 leadership person in the world by Inc. Magazine. The course will cover topics ranging from personalities, connections, growth, influence, and high levels of leadership. The PDUs will count in the following ways…8 Leadership – 4 Strategic. You do not want to pass on the opportunity to learn leadership from a retired Marine Chief Warrant Officer 3, Project Management Professional, and Certified Coach, Trainer, and Speaker on the John Maxwell Team. Remember – Leadership is Influence…nothing more, nothing less.
We start with an exploration of personality types. There are so many tests and evaluations and quizzes out there it is hard to know what to do and follow. A key to understanding all of them is they basically have the same language and use the same terminology regardless of the outcome (color coding/sea creatures/birds). We will figure out your personality type; we will figure out the personality type of key players on your team; we will then take things a step further by going where most other training on personality types never goes…how to deal with people realizing and understanding your personality and theirs.
We are looking at the Maxwell book, Everyone Communicates, Few Connect. Here we will take the information we learned about personalities and expand things from just communicating with people to connecting and adding value. Having conversations is just a piece of communication…building a connection takes relationships to the next level.
We continue to discuss Maxwell’s The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth. Here we will dive into several of the laws to help the Project Manager expand their tools of leadership and create a more productive environment for their team. Growth is the key to moving forward in leading. If a person is not growing, they are dying. Next will be Maxwell’s REAL Leadership 101 Series. The topics in this session include Relationships, Equipping, Attitude, and Leadership. Each area will be explored through discussion and conversation so participants can realize how they can become better leaders.
We explore the importance of influence with Maxwell’s Becoming a Person of Influence. Leadership is all about one’s ability to influence others. There are many pieces to the puzzle of influence and we will discuss and share how to best build the puzzle for maximum results.
Finally, the entire leadership series will conclude by tying the information together by exploring 5 Levels of Leadership by John C. Maxwell. By the end of it all, your leadership lid should have moved up and your desire to add value to everyone around you should have grown.
Christopher Diem, MA, PMP
Prior to joining the John Maxwell Team, I spent over 22 years as an active duty Marine and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 3, Criminal Investigations Officer. I worked my way up through the ranks with ever-increasing levels of leadership and responsibility and truly began my journey in leadership and mentoring during my career. I firmly believe leadership starts and ends with integrity. I have taught college classes, worked as a project manager, and experienced success in network marketing. I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Chapman University, a Master’s Degree in Management: Organizational Leadership from American Military University, and my Project Management Professional Certification from the Project Management Institute. I am currently enrolled as an Educational Doctorate student at Grand Canyon University and working towards my degree in Organizational Leadership & Organizational Development.
I am the Founder of Carpe Diem Consulting Group, Inc., based in San Diego, CA, and Co-founder of K2 Development Systems. I coach and mentor business partners, business owners, and people wanting to make a difference in the world. My true passion is teaching and empowering others to succeed. I teach others by equipping them with the tools, strategies, and philosophies required to balance their lives by keeping their emotional, mental, physical, financial, and spiritual wells filled. I effectively teach because I actively listen. This builds relationships through positive communication and connecting. When speaking, I entertain, engage, inspire, and inject humor.
My favorite part of speaking is connecting with the audience, adding value to their lives, empowering them to succeed, and solidifying their belief they are destined to achieve more. I have a heart for people who are unsure of how to get to their next level of leadership. Currently, I live in San Diego, California with my wife, Rochelle. Having her on this journey gives me the inspiration to continue impacting lives and watching people dream again.
