PMI-PBA® Certification Exam Prep (4 days)

The purpose of this course is to prepare participants with a minimum of 4,500 hours of business analysis experience to prepare for PMI’s Professional Business Analysis (PMI-PBA®) Exam. The material is completely compliant with Business Analysis for Practitioners – A Practice Guide, first edition and the PMI Professional in Business Analysis Examination Content Outline. Participants will study the content and topics business analysts need to know to pass the PMI-PBA exam. Participants will guild competency with case study exercises used throughout. This workshop walks the participant through the body of knowledge and reviews content and topics tested on the PMI-PBA exam that are not directly addressed in the practice guide.
In this course participants will be able to:
- Define requirements for PMI-PBA certification and the application process
- Describe the structure and format of the exam
- List the performance domains described in the Practice Guide and Examination Content Outline
- Identify how recommended Business Analysis practices differ from their own practices
- Apply Business Analysis principles to project situations
- Identify exam-taking and memorization tips and techniques
- Use the same exams to gain an understanding of the types of questions that may be asked
- Assess individual personal study needs and develop a study plan for exam preparation
Who should attend?
This workshop is intended for project managers, project leads, subject matter experts, team members, business analysts, PMO staff, product managers, functional and senior managers, technical specialists and others interested in the PMI-PBA certification.
For those who are just starting out to prepare for the exam, it offers study guidelines, a framework for understanding how the exam is organized and helps in making plans to prepare for the PMI-PBA exam.
Those in the middle of exam preparation will find guidance on business analysis issues and explanations of topics often tested on the exam.
If participants need that last push before taking the exam, this course provides exam topics and a good reference for key terms and topics that others have found difficult.
Materials include the participant guide that incorporates the recommended readings from PMI and follows the instructor-led presentation. Additional case study exercises and sample quizzes will also be included to help prepare the participant for a deeper understanding of the contents, and prepare for exam topics.
How is Business Analysis related to project management?
Project management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to project activities to meet project requirements. Requirements are an inherent aspect of Project Management (and Program Management) and Business Analysis is an important function that identifies, analyzes, and manages those requirements in order to ensure the goal of the project is achieved.
Business analysis is a discipline of the broader practice of Requirements Management. Risk, complexity, change, stakeholder and communications management are components of Requirements Management but are only useful if you successfully identify and plan for them within the project and/or program plan.

This course is taught by Greta Blash who was recognized by PMI® as a Subject Matter Expert to review and provide recommendations on the draft of the PMI® Guide to Business Analysis.
Greta Blash has over 20 years of project management and business analysis consulting and management experience with world-class organizations.
Greta has developed project management and business analysis essentials courses, to help individuals achieve their certification goals. She has also published many articles and blogs on these subjects. Her strong knowledge and experience in the combined usages of various techniques allow her to help teach and coach organizations on how these techniques can be appropriately applied to ensure delivery of solutions that meet stakeholder expectations.
She was selected by PMI to be part of the review team for the latest editions of the PMBOK and Program Management Guide, as well as an SME for the newly published BA Standard and Benefits Realization Practice Guide. She is a frequent presenter at Project Management, Business Analysis, and Agile events.

The course prepares individuals to take the PBA exam, but neither PMI® nor the PMI® Puget Sound Area Chapter guarantee or imply that completion of the course will ensure that a participant will pass the PBA examination. Cancellation and No-Show Policy:
If you’ve registered for an event and find you cannot attend, you are eligible for a refund of 80% up to 10 business days before the class start date. Simply let us know at [email protected], that you cannot attend class and would like a refund. Cancellations made within 1- 9 business days will incur a 50% fee. Cancellations, after the event starts, will not be eligible for a refund.
Students enrolled in a degree-seeking program in the semester during which the Puget Sound PMI Prep Course takes place, qualify for a 50% discount if proof of part-time or full-time student status can be provided.
