Overview Part 3 - The Ultimate Sprint Planning Workshop

The sprint is at the heart of an effective Agile lifecycle yet many teams struggle to deliver a sprint successfully. In this interactive workshop, you will learn the keys to successfully plan, deliver, and review a healthy sprint.

This training is divided into 3 core areas: sprint planning, sprint delivery, and sprint closing.

Using a case study that covers the pre-work needed to set-up a sprint for success, we will follow one set of stories through the complete sprint process including the best practices for stand-ups, for retrospectives and for sprint demos. We will also examine triage and re-planning methods that keep a sprint on track.

Questions we will discuss:

  • How do I verify the work will fit into the sprint?
  • How do I track work and keep the sprint on target?
  • Can I interrupt a sprint?
  • What if my resources are not 100% dedicated to the sprint?
  • How can I do sprints with globally distributed teams?
  • Is there ever a time when I should not pursue sprinting?
  • Should I do user acceptance testing during a sprint?

Prerequisites & Audience

There are no prerequisites for this workshop. It is designed to cover the needs of the Agile/Scrum novice and the experienced Agilista. Experience with a project related to technology or software deployment would be helpful but not necessary. Past attendees included project managers, product managers, developers, business analysts, designers, DBAs, architects, executives and managers.
