Overview Part 2. Agile Project Release Planning Workshop:

Date: Wednesday, 11 April 2018
Complete project planning is often overlooked in many teams using the Scrum process. Some teams just plan for the near term and some just plan from sprint to sprint. At the end of the day, management, stakeholders, and the team need a long-term vision for their projects.

The goal of this workshop, is to cover the best practices for creating an early project plan. We will use our plan to estimate costs, to complete resources planning, define key milestones, and create releases. Then we will also show how an Agile project can be planned by using either date, scope, or budget as its focus. You will see how this approach to project planning allows stakeholders to make business decisions early in the project cycle.

You Will Learn how to:

  • Create a project plan for an entire project using Agile
  • Include the right people in each planning phase
  • Run a release planning workshop with your team
  • Establish a relationship between the customer and the project team early in a project
  • Get team members to agree to providing estimates early
  • Increase estimate accuracy by using historical data versus opinion
  • Expose date, budget, or scope risks early in a project using Agile

Prerequisites & Audience

There are no prerequisites for this workshop. It is designed to cover the needs of the Agile/Scrum novice and the experienced Agilista. Experience with a project related to technology or software deployment would be helpful but not necessary. Past attendees included project managers, product managers, developers, business analysts, designers, DBAs, architects, executives and managers.
