Description:
Overview: Lean and Kanban are superb techniques for delivering projects, eliminating waste in existing processes, adding visibility and transparency to project management, and a great way to help teams build sustainability and predictability in work-load management. Lean and Kanban are complimentary to Agile and Scrum.

Lean has its roots in the rebuilding of Japanese infrastructure after World War II. Using Lean manufacturing processes and principles, the Japanese have become market leaders for designing and delivering high quality products at a low cost. Famous for sharing their processes with industry and donating it to charities, Toyota’s 40-year success is based on their reliance on Lean processes.

In this workshop, you will learn the key principles and practices related to Lean systems, and you will learn one of the most popular Lean practices, Kanban. The Kanban method makes work in progress visible, exposes waste and delays, and focuses on delivering complete work. We will review several companies that use a Kanban process, and create our own Kanban workflow during the workshop. You will leave with a new option for delivering your processes and products.

You Will Learn:

  • The roots of Lean and how Scrum came from Lean
  • How Lean can be used to improve existing processes
  • Overview of the Kanban workflow method
  • Best practices of Lean Product Development
  • How to establish a Kanban process for your team or product
  • A comparison of Lean and Agile Principles
  • How to Identify and Optimize Value Streams
  • How to Determine Work-In-Progress (WIP) Limits

PDU: 8
